In depth

Verdict

Zazous can come best of a bad bunch, with Viewforth, Monte Major and Mine The Balance put up as other likely candidates. What a dreadful race to start proceedings, with none of the 12 declared runners in any sort of form at present. With that in mind, only the smallest of wagers is recommended on Zazous who is the only one to have actually reached the frame on his latest start. That was at Kempton just three days ago when John Bridger's charge finished a close third from a poor draw in stall one. That was over seven furlongs, and as he won over today's distance at Newbury in August, he at least has a bit more going for him than most. The ex-Ian Semple inmate Viewforth finished fifth here 10-days ago on his first outing for Mark Buckley, with Zazous behind, so has to merit a mention at least, while Monte Major has an absence to overcome but has been placed a couple of times. Mine The Balance went out like a light when tried over a mile at Kempton four days ago and so is dropped back in trip. He has been placed here three times in eight visits and so it would not be a surprise if he figured either. In a poor, poor contest we return to Zazous as the answer.
