Verdict
Mark Johnston's debutant ABERGAVENNY is selected to land this opening maiden contest, while there should be improvement to come from Beyond, and Brave Talk is also respected. The last-named was not an expensive purchase and is handled by Silvester Kirk, who does well at this track. The Avonbridge gelding is bred to go well over this trip and should be capable of a nice debut run. Beyond has already been there and done that, making the frame at Wolverhampton first time out, despite finishing comfortably behind the front pair. Jeremy Noseda looks almost certain to elicit improvement from the Galileo colt, especially now stepped up a little in trip, and he looks a leading player. The Great Husk is not a bad performer, but is proving hard to win with and leaves us struggling to enthuse, while Sternian is going the right way but needs to improve again to get near to winning today. That leads us back to Abergavenny. The Dubai Destination colt comes from a successful family of Italian-trained runners and increased in price as a two-year-old. Conditions and trip should hold no fears, and with the yard going well of late we will side with him.
