      In depth

      Verdict

Tony The Tap was good value for his win at Wolverhampton last week but Willie Muir's gelding may struggle to follow up under his 6lb penalty and preference is for Desperate Dan, with Harry Up rated the pick of the remainder. The selection has been a model of consistency of late and lost no caste in defeat when narrowly beaten by Financial Times over course and distance last time. A 1lb rise for that run is perfectly fair and the six-year-old is taken to resume winning ways. Richard Hannon's China Cherub was beaten in a claimer here on Monday and is hard to recommend back in a handicap. Resplendent Alpha has been running consistently well but could probably do with some help from the handicapper and of more interest may be Kevin Ryan's Harry Up, who has slipped to a fair mark. Several have chances but marginal preference is for Desperate Dan.
