        Verdict

        Star of Normandie has been in cracking form and is taken to land this at the expense of Border Edge and Labrett. George Margarson's filly has landed 3 of her last four races, the last two success's coming here. The most recent was at the beginning of December when beating Alrafid by a comfortable neck. Following that event the trainer said she may need a rest so after a four week break she is probably refreshed and ready to run another big race. Border Edge thrives on racing and following a busy season still looked enthusiastic when not beaten far behind Lygeton Lad at the end of last month and is certain to be in the shake up. Labrett though may be the biggest danger, he has struggled a little on the sand at Wolverhampton on his last two outings, but before that was most impressive when landing a handicap over course and distance. A big showing is expected of Gay Kellaway's runner but on this occasion Star Of Normandie is a worthy choice.
