In depth

Verdict

IRISH CHIEF, a son of War Front out of a Group 2 winner, had three runs at the Curragh last summer and, though not looking a stable star, did enough to suggest he could win a race of this nature especially with progress likely. Stalingrad has produced plenty of strong form and ran very well when dropped back to this trip on soft ground at Sligo so further rain would boost his chances. Shikoko is another who could do with some rain as he made an encouraging debut on heavy ground at Navan but didn’t have the pace to get involved on quicker ground on a return visit. Tashgheel was well beaten on his return to action at Sligo.
