The classy hurdler Essex is a bit long in the tooth to begin a career over fences but showed some promise on his debut at Thurles in November. Bumper and hurdles winner Hellyhunter is the type to do well over the bigger obstacles as is Orpen Guama, who looked a decent prospect for chasing when third at Limerick last October and a spin over hurdles at Galway in July will have put him straight. Winning point-to-pointer Fitzfirth landed a maiden hurdle here a year ago and is another who should do well over fences while Accord Aris looked an improved performer when landing a maiden over timber at Downpatrick in May. Experience counts for plenty at this stage and WARNE, who has steadily improved in four starts and was a useful hurdler, gets the vote to gain his first victory in this sphere.
