Verdict

All credit to Denis Hogan for his superb placing of KALELLSHAN, who has won eight times from 17 starts over jumps. He followed his all-the-way success over hurdles at Galway with a similar victory over fences at Killarney but he's a massive 17lb higher for this and Torpichen, who was third in that latter race, is that much better off. However, the winner is probably still capable of much better and gets the nod to continue his winning sequence. Mossey Joe burst onto the scene in the style of a potentially high-class performer but hasn't quite lived up to that reputation so far. There's still time and though well beaten over hurdles on his two latest starts he'll be happier back over fences and it would be no surprise to see him return to winning ways. Ordinary Man refused to start when sent to Laytown on Thursday so is hardly reliable though he's definitely capable of winning over fences from this mark if in the mood
