In depth

Verdict

Aidan O'Brien must be despairing of finding a race for both BATTLEOFTRAFALGAR and Scottish Reel but the former has the right conditions and trip for the first time and gets the vote to end his frustrating run. There are plenty of dangers including his stablemate though Alburj may prove a bigger threat in first-time blinkers. Dermot Weld's charge couldn't cope with Ballydoyle inmate Quest For Gold at Wexford but softer ground may bring out the best in him. Devils Bit is progressing while there was plenty to like about the run of Stephen's Green behind Amber Grey at Leopardstown and he's another who may have been finding the going too fast. It's a long time since Taroum finished a good third to Legendary Lad at Cork but he looks a nice staying prospect and a strongly-run race would play to his strengths as it would dual winning bumper Greenbelt Star.
