Shady Gloom scored on the Flat for Kevin Ryan and showed ability over timber when runner-up to False Economy at Tipperary in April. CURRENT RECESSION reverted to bumpers after a couple of promising runs over timber and won easily on heavy ground at Naas in January. All of his runs to date have been in very testing conditions but there's no reason why he won't handle today's better ground and he can take this. Ballyhaunis made a reasonable debut over hurdles at Thurles in November and has been in fair form on the Flat this summer. He should do well at this game and is a threat while Gala Dancer improved from bumpers to make a fair start over timber behind Dark Prospect at Galway. Paul Nolan's winning point-to-pointer Coolharbour Breeze looks the type to run well at a fair price.
