In depth

Verdict

Flying Scotsman, one of three Joseph O’Brien runners sporting the green and gold of J P McManus, beat Varna Gold, Glorious Zoff and Clever Currency at Ballinrobe but the runner-up is 4lb better off for a head. PERSIA was giving 3lb to Dark Voyager when practically upsides the Mullins top weight at Galway in July but the boot is on the other foot here and J J Slevin’s mount can turn the tables and get the better of his stablemates and the hat-trick seeking Malina Girl. Perry Owens is interesting dropping back in trip and Trebizond should be capable of picking up a handicap, though probably at a lower level. Autumn Evening had decent form last season and has had a recent run on the Flat so any market support would be significant.
