Verdict
Dominican Monk has to give weight away all round here, but can have the measure of Proud Peer, with Alcopop and Layasar worth a mention for place purposes. Dominican Monk has been a model of consistency since being sent over hurdles, gaining wins at Hereford and Bangor, with three good placed efforts to his credit as well. Touched off in a photo by Low Cloud at Sedgefield in September after drifting across the track on the run-in, he has had a small break since and does not have a great deal more to do here. Proud Peer Looked as though he was going to hack up at Taunton last time as he came cruising on the bit, but found little close home and was narrowly beaten by Quid Pro Quo. He should again be there or thereabouts but is worth taking on. Alcopop was already beaten when getting rid of his pilot at Fakenham but should still come on for the outing, while it would be dangerous to rule out Layasar entirely, given his stable's form. Tailed off when pulled up at Stratford last month, it would be no surprise if he were to be involved. However, Dominican Monk sets the standard, and so gets the vote.
