In depth
Verdict
Benmadigan is the one to side with here ahead of Winter Star and Sheshali. The selection was well beaten on his first three starts but showed improved form on his handicap bow over this trip and may well have gone close but for being hampered at the last. He's 5lbs higher but open to improvement and should go close. Winter Star steps up in trip following a onepaced effort at Worcester just four days ago. That run wasn't too bad and he may well appreciate this stiffer test but it remains to be seen what that run has taken out of him. Stablemate Sheshali is having his first run for the yard since arriving from Ireland and his breeding offers hope that he will see out this sort of trip; support for him would be of interest. That Man Fox is the first runner back for Phil McEntee and connections are hopeful of a big run so he enters calculations whilst Jonjo O'Neill has his team in good order so Hawk Landing also merits consideration. Irish raider Good Gordon is another potential improver at this longer trip and support for him in an interesting race would look significant but Benmadigan has already advertised his claims and is preferred.
