In depth

Verdict

Unbeaten in small fields in three starts over fences, Mortlach faces his toughest test so far while La Domaniale beat only two rivals when successful at Uttoxeter. FRANCKY DU BERLAIS (NAP) also won at the latter track in April but more pertinent is his victory in this contest last year. Only 2lb higher this time round, Peter Bowen’s charge should make another bold bid. Al Roc won here at the start of the month and stablemate Texard makes a quick reappearance having scored at Uttoxeter earlier this week. Mahler's Promise beat Statuario over a shorter trip here last time and is preferred to the other recent winners Rostello and Light N Strike while Manofthemountain improved for wind surgery when second at Uttoxeter and has a good strike rate over fences.
