In depth
Verdict
This will be fast and furious if Cool Monty has his way but, as he has been off for a while, he is taken on with Transit, who has already proved that he still retains plenty of ability. Cases can be made for a few of the, with Mumaris and Ceresfield both holding recent winning form, heading the list. The first named is holding his form well and is entitled to take his chance in this company. Whereas Papau is another to consider for making the frame as he has gone well here in the past. However, like a few of the others, he has been found out for a turn of foot on occasions and, with a long absence to overcome, others make more appeal today. Poitiers had some fair hurdles form before switching to fences at the start of the campaign. However, he may need further experience before Martin Pipe can place him to the best effect. Which brings us back to Transit, who gets the vote today. The Brian Ellison-trained gelding has the likes of Venn Ottery well beaten over course and distance the last time he raced here and a repeat of that effort would easily suffice today.
