In depth
Verdict
Henry Cecil's Invasian is less exposed than most of these and has to be respected following a respectable second at Beverley last time but preference is for Dubois, who gets the vote over the consistent Sew'n'so Character. The last mentioned deserves to get his head in front but may once again have to settle for a minor role, while the Barry Hills-trained Zonus showed something like his best form at Sandown last time and has claims on that evidence. Ian Semple's Appalachian Trail has a string of fine efforts in decent handicaps to his name and is another worthy of a mention along with Jeremy Noseda's lightly raced Diamond Lodge and Enford Princess, from the in-form stable of Richard Hannon. The vote though goes to Dubois. Admittedly, Godolphin's colt benefited from a fine ride by Frankie Dettori when scoring at Ascot last time but the son of Sadler's Wells won with something in hand that day and may be ahead of the handicapper.
