In depth

Verdict

John Dunlop's Beneventa disappointed on her most recent start but is worth another chance in this company and is fancied to give weight to her rivals including the promising three-year-olds Nuzooa and Feaat. The selection is probably best forgiven her latest start in the Windsor Forest as the stable's horses were out of form at the time and on earlier form she is very much the one they all have to beat, despite having to concede weight away all round. The other older horses make limited appeal with Ed Dunlop's Desert Royalty probably the pick of them but a bigger threat is likely to come from the classic generation. John Gosden's Feaat ran below expectations in the Ribblesdale Stakes last time and may be better than she showed there, while Henry Candy's Goslar steps up in class having landed a Chepstow maiden on her most recent start. The biggest threat may come from Marcus Tregoning's Nuzooa, who looked a filly with a future when opening her account at Newbury last month. Henry Cecil's Portrait of A Lady and Luca Cumani's Selebela have been progressive in handicaps of late and cannot be ruled out entirely but Beneventa has an obvious chance and gets the vote.
