Given that Brian Meehan's horses normally improve with racing, Violet Park who finished second on her debut at Folkestone has to be respected but there are a couple of interesting newcomers here and the vote goes to Mujawer, who is preferred to Surreptitious. The last mentioned is an American bred son of Machiavellian trained by David Loder whose string is back in form again now. He may do better over further, while another newcomer, Willie Musson's Tides, is speedily bred and may be outstayed over this trip. James Fanshawe's Polar Sun is bred to be useful but on the evidence of his first run, and pedigree, may do better with more cut in the ground. Cazenove is held by Violet Park on Folkestone form and preference is for Marcus Tregoning's newcomer Mujawer. The son of Gulch is a likely type on pedigree and in a race that might not take a great deal of winning he makes most appeal.
