Verdict

Marinous ran very well here last year after a long break though that was on Tapeta and this Deauville Group 2 winner may not be suited by the fast surface on turf. Monterosso won the King Edward VII Stakes for Mark Johnston last year before running well in the Irish Derby. That kind of form would be too good for these but he hasn't been seen since August and his trainer probably has better chances with the in-form pair Calvados Blues and Simon De Montfort. The former definitely improved for the step-up to this C&D last time but it's the latter, who defied a very long absence to win smoothly over 1m2f in January, who has the most scope and he looks a big threat to the selection, INTERACTION. The former champion middle-distance horse of Argentina, Pascal Bary's charge produced a very impressive Meydan debut behind the classy Bold Silvano a month ago and with that under his belt he can land this before heading for the Sheema Classic.
