In depth

Verdict

Pictograph showed potential for Godolphin on the all-weather last winter but was beaten a long way for new connections at Jebel Ali on Friday. Another former Godolphin inmate, Criminalistic, was only beaten a nose at Chelmsford last September but that was in a poor nursery. Prince Jai was placed at Kempton for Ian Williams and ran in better company than this in his two runs here earlier this year. Short Distance made a promising start for Saeed Bin Suroor at Kempton in December and started a short-priced favourite at Wolverhampton three weeks later but ran poorly. BOARDING PARTY was mainly disappointing for Charlie Fellowes but made a bold bid to lead all over a mile here in March when transferred to Doug Watson, and Pat Dobbs, who was on board that day, can steer him to his first victory. The stable also run the newcomer Talloire, a superbly-bred half-brother to four winners and out of a Breeders' Cup winner who definitely one to keep an eye on.
