This is a non-carnival race, as it was when Good Trip got up close home over the track and trip a fortnight ago. That was a return to form by the five-year-old, who had been narrowly beaten in a much better race here a year ago but shown nothing subsequently. Runner-up Muzdawaj looked the likely winner when taking the lead at the furlong mark but was run out of it while Baroot, who started favourite, didn't get going until too late and would be better served by a stronger gallop. Tafaakhor also stayed on well as did Azmaan but Harcourt Street never got going in an unsatisfactory race where one went well clear until fading rapidly. PILLAR OF SOCIETY, a dual winner for Richard Hannon including a mile handicap at Newmarket, made a very promising debut for Doug Watson over 7f where he was only headed close home. With that under his belt and the extra likely to suit he gets the nod. Mujeeb has won twice in France though hasn't run since August.
