In depth

Verdict

Doug Watson was amongst the winners again at the weekend and has three engaged here. Mathematics, who completed a double in December, was fancied to make a successful reappearance a fortnight ago but was soon done with after early pace. He may need another run before hitting form and though Moosir led for a long way over a mile on the same day his only two victories have been over that trip. Paranormal looks best of the trio as he returned to Sharjah with a very good run over 5f where he was staying on strongly and Sam Hitchcott rode him to his only victory on that track in March. However, ALWAYS WELCOME was only beaten narrowly that day and has a useful pull in the weights so the former John Gosden-trained winner can gain his first success in the UAE after a recent pipe-opener. Gervais showed very good speed in the USA without winning and will be better for last week's run at Jebel Ali.
