In depth

Verdict

Not A Given had been in good form since the opening fixture in November so it was a surprise that he'd dropped 6lb in the weights before gaining a comfortable victory twelve days ago. That was over 7f but he stays this trip and should go well again. I'M BACK showed his liking for the Dirt surface when landing the opening thoroughbred race of the Carnival. The form has worked out well and it will be a surprise if the three-times UK winner isn't in the shake-up and he looks the most reliable option. Giftorm stayed on well behind Faulkner over 7f three weeks ago and has some strong form in Scandanavia but Storm Belt was a bit disappointing a fortnight ago after two very smart performances. Artigiano hasn't recaptured his juvenile form where he wasn't beaten far by Olympic Glory in a Goodwood Group 2 but stablemate Groundbreaking, who has won two of his six starts, appears to be best fresh so an absence since August isn't a problem. Tiz Now Tiz Then has some strong form on the Dirt at Jebel Ali though he's shot up the ratings as a consequence while Beyond Empire is very much better than we saw here two weeks ago and is one to keep an eye on.
