In depth

Verdict

CHAMPAGNESOCIALIST has changed stables since finishing runner-up to the very smart Grangee at Galway back in October 2020. The winner wasn't beaten far in a Grade 1 hurdle last time and John McConnell's charge can start making up for lost time. Fellow traveller Holmes St Georges started favourite for a Ballinrobe bumper in May but found the going too testing though wasn't beaten far. Dom Bosco has a race-fitness advantage having been placed at Ludlow while Hard Iron is related to the very smart Royal Renzezvous and the four-year-old Clova Hotel is a half-brother to a winning bumper.
