      Verdict

      Poet's Society has found life tough in handicaps since winning at Newcastle in June and has to give weight here to his four rivals, two of which are less exposed. Wick Powell may just have needed his first run on Turf at Thirsk and was beaten a neck. He's capable of better but so is WHIRL ME ROUND. Kevin Ryan's gelding had little to beat at Hamilton but never gave supporters an anxious moment and he looks more than capable of holding his own in this higher grade. Only a pound separates The Nazca Lines and Kodi da Capo according to the handicapper so neither can be ruled out.
