In depth

Verdict

This is the right sort of level for Maleficent Queen but the way she pulled up in the Northumberland Plate is a cause for concern and she is best watched for the time being, so preference is for CHEMICAL CHARGE, who was last seen finishing strongly in the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot. That was a career best effort and a repetition of that form should be enough to take this one. The admirable Sir Chauvelin ran well at Newcastle and looks a good each-way prospect and Haydock second Soldier In Action can also be involved at the finish.
