        Verdict

        SPEED COMPANY, a £48,000 yearling, made a highly encouraging debut behind the experienced Drifting Spirit at Beverley and should have made enough progress to go one better. The winner is trained by Richard Fahey, who has Stylish Boy engaged here. He's shown real promise in all three starts and hasn't been beaten far so looks certain to get into contention. Bay Mirage was too green to do himself justice on his debut but showed the benefit with a much better effort over this track and trip where he led for much of the way and would have gone close but for running wide on the bend. Mixology has a smart pedigree and should do better as should Teba Mateba, who didn't enjoy the soft conditions at Redcar.
