In depth

Verdict

Bailieborough secures our vote of confidence against Ballyhurry and Kew The Music. David Nicholls' charge rarely runs a bad race at this venue and having already had three sighters of the racecourse this term, there are no worries about his fitness on this occasion. He does have to reverse form with Ballyhurry but that rival did have the better of the draw at Catterick on that occasion and is arguably better over seven than eight furlongs. Kew The Music is unproven over a mile but that said, he was putting in fair work at Brighton over the trip so connections are obviously hopeful of victory here. Top Dirham has had his training troubles but when the money is down, he is rarely far away. He handles fast ground adequately enough and the visor is applied first time today. Wahoo Sam has never won first time up so may need this outing. Stoic Leader's recent form has been modest on the all-weather although his supporters will no doubt point out that he has recorded two victories at this course. Of the remainder, Efidium is interesting in that Paul Hanagan is reunited with him. On his only previous ride aboard him, the pair finished second in a big handicap at Redcar. Competitive fare with Bailieborough selected having considered the substantial claims of the opposition.
