In depth

Verdict

BAND OF OUTLAWS looks just the type to bounce back from a long absence. The 2019 Fred Winter winner hasn't been seen since a superb run in the Galway Hurdle that same year but is a class-act at his best and a mark of 88 looks workable. Roca Roma heads the weights after going up 5lb for scoring at Leopardstown on heavy ground in August. The forecast rain will aid his cause but conceding 7lb to the selection could prove beyond him. Pepperoni Pete went up an astonishing 17lb for scoring at Navan on testing ground but has continued to run well on quicker going than he would have liked and Scott McCullagh's claim is a bonus. Stable jockey Shane Foley rides Protagonist, who is gradually dropping to a fair mark, while Starting Monday won well over this trip at the Curragh then found an extra 2f just beyond him at Cork
