Aussie Valentine was third in this last year having also placed in the three previous seasons and can go well again while Richard Fahey has three entries with Paul Hanagan on board Calvados Spirit. The latter has only won once and that was on the all-weather but he's down to a fair mark and a lengthy absence shouldn't be too much of a problem. Theobald has been in top form at Dundalk, winning three of his last four, though his ability to handle this ground has to be taken on trust. Marshall Jennings won over the course and distance in May and was racing in much better company subsequently while Ger Lyons likes a crack at this and Karawaan, a winner for Sir Michael Stoute, will have been laid out on his return from a long absence. CIAO has improved dramatically on the all-weather and the fact that she has won twice over 1m2f in recent weeks should stand her in good stead. She's on the same mark as when successful last time and, with her stable on the crest of a wave, she can land this nice prize.
