In depth

Verdict

Dixie Lee has been making good progress and deserved last month's victory at Down Royal. Providing the ground doesn't get testing, she should be in the frame again. NOT A WHISPER was a 20/1 chance when impressing here in September, though that was on good going and she's another who wouldn't want more rain. She's just handed the vote over Socksy, who showed much-improved form to score in soft ground at Thurles last month and would be the selection if the going turned testing. The Birdie Crowe is by Westerner out of a mare who has produced a winning hurdler so she's one to keep an eye on.
