Verdict

The last eight winners of this consolation race have carried 9-3 or over. A couple of the lightly-raced, fancied horses fit into that trend including KEYSTROKE. Jeremy Noseda's colt made a winning return in a decent handicap at Wolverhampton three weeks ago and it was soft ground when he won on his racecourse debut over track and trip. Predominance is also unexposed having come up short when favourite in testing ground over 7f here in November but he stays this extra distance and could go close. Ryan Moore was on board Azraff when he finished second over track and trip in June and Right Touch is not easily dismissed for the Fahey yard with a 7lb claimer helping his cause. At the lower end of the handicap, Master Of Irony won over a mile on the round course here last year and Emerald ended the last campaign with a victory on soft ground at Newmarket.
