In depth

Verdict

JP McManus went to 165,000gns to purchase BLISSFUL MOMENT out of Sir Michael Stoute's yard and, now with Noel Meade, the five-year-old can begin to repay some of the outlay as he didn't mind soft ground when runner-up to Fox Hunt in the Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes at Royal Ascot. It's quite a surprise to see Perfect Gentleman over the minimum trip as though he won a bumper he only just failed over 2m6f on his hurdling debut at Thurles. Carrig Millie is another who has been running over further and produced a fine effort over 2m4f at Leopardstown but Inish Island was a little disappointing when strongly fancied at Gowran last time. Imperial Cascade has returned in good form after a very long break and should be winning soon.
