In depth

Only five entries, three of them from Gordon Elliott, but it should be informative. Jury Duty has a penalty for winning a Grade 1 at Leopardstown and he was when outstayed by Moulin A Vent at Naas where he looked like winning after Mossback fell at the last. The latter looked the probable winner at the time and looks best of the trio this time though another stablemate, MONBEG NOTORIOUS, can get the better of them. He was beaten a long way by Moulin A Vent at Fairyhouse in December but has improved out of all recognition subsequently and his victory in the Thyestes Chase at Gowran stamped him as a stayer to follow. C'Est Jersey is by no means out of this as he showed real potential when chasing home odds-on stable companion Kemboy at Fairyhouse on his debut over fences.

Moulin A Vent 7-2 (11-2) Chased leaders, mainly 3rd, slight mistakes 2nd and 8th, 2nd 5 out, ridden and dropped to 4th entering straight, under pressure in 3rd before last, left moderate 2nd last, stayed on well run-in, led closing stages, won at Naas 3m (1) Soft - Heavy in Jan beating Jury Duty (11-10) by 4 1/2l, 5 ran.

C'Est Jersey (FR) 4-1 (11-12) Disputed lead early, headed 2nd, close 2nd before 2 out, ridden after 2 out, no impression on winner at last, kept on same pace run-in, 2nd of 8, 6l behind Kemboy (11-12) at Fairyhouse 2m 5f hvy in Jan.

Monbeg Notorious (IRE) 7-2fav (10-2) Tracked leaders, 2nd before 4 out and headway to lead 3 out, ridden to assert before next, stayed on well, won at Gowran Park 3m 1f hcp hvy in Jan beating Wounded Warrior (9-13) by 11l, 15 ran.

Mossback (IRE) 9-4jfav (11-2) Chased leader, disputed from before 9th, dropped to 3rd and slight mistake 5 out, improved to challenge and pecked 3 out, ridden to dispute entering straight, narrow lead 2 out, joined and disputed before last, upsides and every chance when fell last, at Naas 3m (1) Soft - Heavy in Jan.

Jury Duty (IRE) 3-1 (11-10) Held up, 4th from before 4th, closer in 3rd entering straight, ridden to challenge before 2 out, disputed before last, left in clear lead last, tired run-in and headed closing stages, 2nd of 5, 4 1/2l behind Moulin A Vent (11-2) at Naas 3m (1) Soft - Heavy in Jan.
