Verdict

SWEEPS HILL, a Grade 1 winning bumper and placed behind Blackstairmountain in the Champion Novice Hurdle at Punchestown, looked very much in need of a stiffer test when surprisingly beaten at Killarney in May. He will get that on his chasing debut here and is expected to go all the way to the top of the novice division. So Determined has jumped well on his last two starts over the bigger obstacles and can take advantage of any mistakes by the selection while it's interesting that Ruby Walsh has been booked for Venalmar, runner-up to the Walsh-ridden Five Three in the Grade 1 Ballymore over timber at the Cheltenham Festival in 2008 but beaten a distance on both starts over fences. Realt Dubh is probably the main threat if Sweeps Hill doesn't deliver as he was also very useful over hurdles and has the bonus of a victory between the flags.
