Gordon Elliott has won this hugely competitive handicap for the past four years and makes a concerted bid for number five with no less than a dozen entries. Jockey bookings are unlikely to tell us much as four different riders have been successful on his previous winners. Poormans Hill was fourth in the race a year ago and it wouldn't be a shock to see another good run as he had Out Sam behind when scoring at Downpatrick in March. The latter just got the better of Rogue Angel in the Cork Grand National and there's nothing between them here but Minella Beau was close enough when falling three out and can go close with a clear round. He'd earlier finished third behind Woods Well at Galway so the latter has to be considered. Barry Geraghty has chosen SQUOUATEUR of the J P McManus entries and was on board when his mount was an excellent third in the Paddy Power. He's not the most consistent but gets the nod to see off another of the owner's runners, Spider Web, who battled on to catch Na Trachtalai Abu over this trip in the Munster National at Limerick with several of these behind.
