In depth

Verdict

The presence of a number of unexposed horses muddy the waters but those at the top of the weights have earned their position and we'll give another chance to Pamak D'Airy with Planet Of Sound and Majaales just two of many viable alternatives. The selection appeared to be one to keep on the right side of when winning at Sandown. That form hasn't worked out as well as once looked likely but he looked likely to do his bit for the form until meeting trouble in running back at the Esher track. He lost all chance when shuffled back on the bend but did well to stay on again in the straight. This drop in trip is a slight concern but he should be effective. Majaales landed a gamble on his handicap bow at Chepstow last weekend, he's 9lbs higher but the second home was also a springer in the market so the form could stand up and he remains of interest. Planet Of Sound has been dropped 4lbs for finishing fourth to Numide at Leicester, that form looks better than it did at the time, as does his defeat of The Package in November. He may ideally prefer further but should be a player. The likes of Johnny Bissett, Celtic Spirit, Quattrocento and Royal Rationale aren't all that easy to weigh up; the market can guide but our tentative selection is Pamak D'Airy.
