Valadom won over fences at Newcastle before finishing third over hurdles at Ludlow in December and he will make sure there is no hanging about in this. Sir Ivan is more consistent than some but hasn’t won over fences since he was a novice. Present Man won one of these at Chepstow in October, with Shantou Village fourth, and is only a pound higher but Singlefarmpayment is 1-20 over fences and has always been a weak finisher. STRONG PURSUIT paid the price for setting a strong pace at Sandown in January and was pulled up. Today’s quicker surface should see him in a better light and he is fancied to reverse that form with Sir Ivan if ridden with more restraint.
