The three that find their way onto the shortlist are Scottish River, Compton Court and Luis Melendez, with the selection being Scottish River. Scottish River won a similar event to this over course and distance last summer and, from a nine-pounds lower mark today, can go well. Compton Court's second over course and distance two runs ago brings him into things, while Luis Melendez comes here in good form following two claiming successes and, despite the fact that he has a little more to prove, we do not rule him out of things. From a yard that is going well, Garston Star could go well at a bigger price, while Emily's Pet is lightly raced and open to some improvement. Overall, though, the vote stays with Scottish River.
