Verdict
Just the five runners but a very good race nonetheless. Hersov stays well but the feeling is that he falls just short of the best of the novice division. Arguably, the same can be said of Stormez, who made hard work of winning at Kempton last time but the track did not really suit. Both are very useful stayers in the making. Spice is added to the event by Paul Nicholls running Chepstow winner Ask Henry. He had earlier finished second to Henderson's highly-regarded Irish Hussar and, in receipt of 4lbs from Hersov and Stormez, ought to go well. Before that he'd been short headed by the useful Sir Rembrandt. The National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham is said to be his target and he can land this on the way to contesting that four-mile race. Jaloux d'Estruval and, in particular, Denada, will have to show much-improved from to feature here.
