In depth
Verdict
Pure Mischief, Sangiovese and Lilli Marlane all have claims but Red Forest looks to be ahead of the handicapper at present and is taken continue his winning ways. The selection has run out the easy winner of three of his last four starts, the only hiccup coming when encountering soft ground, and even under a penalty remains exceedingly well treated. Pure Mischief would probably appreciate more cut in the ground so a bigger threat may come from the consistent Sangiovese. Top weight Lilli Marlane has slipped to a fair mark and is entitled to be thereabouts, while Burgundy showed improved form at Yarmouth recently and has claims if reproducing his effort there. However, Red Forest is difficult to oppose off his current mark and gets the vote.
