      Verdict

Andrew Balding holds a strong hand as Lahab made a pleasing debut here when coming home in some style to claim third and he looks a sure-fire improver over the extra furlong. However, stable companion LEADMAN (NAP) ran an equally promising first race when runner-up in what is a traditionally hot maiden at Newmarket's July meeting. The fourth and fifth having already won since and the third was only inched out in a photo finish - the son of Kingman can go one better. Boxing Alex and Manuelito look most interesting of the newcomers but Eve Johnson Houghton's juveniles are in fine form so Bussento looks the main threat after a most encouraging debut at Goodwood.
