Verdict

This looks one of the strongest two-year-old races of the season so far with more than half of the field having already won. Its The Only Way is two from two but may struggle to complete a hat-trick of victories in this for the Hannon team. Dave Dexter won here on debut and looked ready for an extra furlong when third at Ascot subsequently. The Irish Rover blew the start when odds-on at the latter track on his second start but was only beaten half-a-length at the post, despite finishing last. Barbill and Marie's Diamond are open to further improvement but it was heavy going when Steeve scored at Salisbury. ALMUFTI is a 120,000gns half-brother to four winners in Italy. His owners have had the last two winners of this, both ridden by Frankie, and he will have been targeted at the race.
