Verdict

A cracking turnout featuring the return of Withhold, last seen in this country when landing the Cesarewitch in October 2017 and the Northumberland Plate the following year. He faces a daunting assignment off 9-10 and we'll let him run on this occasion. Chester Cup winner Making Miracles, Ascot Stakes winner The Grand Visir and Northumberland Plate winner Who Dares Wins complete the top four in the weights, reflecting the distinction of the contest. There's little to choose between them and CARNWENNAN, a rapidly improving stayer but still on a workable mark of 94, may prove too strong on this good ground in receipt of 10lb and upwards from the aforementioned quartet. Coeur de Lion and Rare Groove also enter calculations, whilst Harry Fry's winning hurdler, Litterale Ci, is an interesting outsider.
