In depth

Verdict

John Gosden has trained three of the last six winners so CHESSMAN gets a speculative vote. He beat a subsequent winner at Kempton in November and Frankie gets the leg-up today. Pivoine, Omran, Abatement and Intimate Art all won their respective maidens on the all-weather but Warrior's Spirit won his over track and trip in September. Graphite Storm won a handicap here in the same month while Winning Ways was fourth in a tough conditions race at Lingfield behind Tomily last time. Dark Destroyer is in good form but upped in class today.
