In depth

Verdict

Navan winner Red Napoleon made his seasonal return and debut for Ralph Beckett in a Listed race over a mile at York and is clearly well thought of. But he’s no certainty to stay this longer trip and there is no guarantee of a decent pace either with both of today’s opponents slowly away last time. THE GAY CAVALIER won a handicap at Epsom a week ago and he looks the safest bet receiving weight from his younger rival. Thecornishcavalier has only to race round to pick up third place prize money.
