      Verdict

Milton Bradley's sprinters are always worth a second look and Lithaam is no exception but he is strictly held by AVRILO on running at Bath earlier this month and the Malcolm Saunders-trained filly can confirm that form, although a better bet looks to be GREEN VELVET. Peter Makin's mare was beaten a length-and-a-quarter by Avrillo at Lingfield earlier this month but she has every chance of reversing the form on 9lbs better terms and can do so. Captain Kallis has been running consistently well and should be thereabouts again but he could probably do with some help from the handicapper. The Ron Hodges-trained Miss Firefly has been running well but is probably better over six furlongs, while West Leake has paid the penalty at the hands of the handicapper for his wins in April and May. The vote then goes the way of Peter Makin's Green Velvet, who can reverse earlier form with Avrillo and gain a deserved first success of the season.
