Verdict

Latansaa comes from a cracking family and should be high on any shortlist, however SIR PITT has already shown on the racetrack that he has ability and John Gosden's colt is taken to prevail. The selection was a real eye-catcher at Newcastle on his debut when he filled fifth place behind Burnett. That winner was well clear at the line and looks very decent but this son of Tiger Hill wasn't knocked about and can be expected to be much wiser today. Out of a Coronation Stakes winner, there is plenty of class in the bloodlines. Multames wasn't particularly well-fancied on his debut at Newmarket but better is expected today with the step up in trip in his favour, Tappanappa looks an interesting newcomer for a top yard and the market will prove very informative to his chance today, whilst Total Command and Mount Athos are both beautifully bred but both needs to step up hugely on their debut performances to feature here. Green Army looks about as good at this stage of his career as the football team that he is probably named after, so of more interest is likely to be Latansaa. This son of Indian Ridge represents top connections and his dam comes from the top-class family that includes Maraahel. State Fair has some solid form to his name; his official rating of 85 might flatter him slightly however there might be further improvement to come now stepped up to this mile trip for the first time. The market should help provide some further clues with plenty of once-raced horses in the line-up, however without that information we are happy to side with Sir Pitt.
