Verdict
Martin Pipe's Visibility won well on heavy at Leicester last time and clearly has chances in a interesting race that should produce its share of future winners. He acted on good on the Flat. The November handicap winner Red Wine stands out as a danger on this better going although he was 25 lengths behind Visibility on his debut. Blue Leader was well beaten on his hurdling debut but is a Flat winner (at Goodwood on good going) over nine furlongs. Cape Canaveral, whose form shows promise - he has been placed in fair novice events plus he ran second on his only Flat start at Leopardstown (when with Aidan O'Brien) - was well ahead of him that day while Light Scent, a 10 furlong winner at Pontefract on firm, and The Teuchter are also well held by him on that form. Cereus won over seven furlongs on the Flat at Chester when with Barry Hills; Ess Of Norway is by Linamix out of a Rainbow Quest mare but, overall, is hard to assess; Paul Nicholls' French import Indien Royal has been beaten by a couple of decent animals on his last two runs but has yet to race on going without give in it. Island Stream's fourth to Lilium de Cotte last time was a career-best effort; Sir Alfred won on firm over nine furlongs at Brighton last April but, overall, he is probably best watched on his debut (although he is a half-brother to a winning hurdler and his dam won the Yorkshire Oaks. Touch Of Ebony is a half-brother to Rock Hopper but, despite some placed efforts on the Flat, appears to lack his class. Turbo was highly tried on his debut at Cheltenham but won off a mark of 83 over 10 furlongs at Doncaster last summer. It is interesting but Visibility is selected to follow up his Leicester win.
