Verdict
Full Minty has returned in good form following an injury lay-off but finds himself on top weight, albeit it from a reasonable mark. Romero won well over course and distance from a five-pound lower mark when seeming to take to a visor in November. He may not have stayed at Taunton last time and has to be respected here. The lightly-raced Dark Room has been raised 6lbs for just getting beaten by Existential at Kempton and looked all over the winner that day until the run-in. This shorter trip and delayed waiting tactics may well help his cause (although he has won over three miles) and he too has to be respected. Pharpost has displayed promise but stopped very quickly at Kempton last time and can sometimes be let down by his jumping. Helvetius has shown some reasonable form but appears fairly handicapped. Lightly raced Irish import Pharaway Citizen has struggled in his last two runs, while Benson is 7lbs higher than for his sole win over fences, which does not make his chance an obvious one. Rufius has been running well this season but is 5lbs higher than for his two career successes which could catch him out. With Tom Siddall taking a useful three pounds off his back, Dark Room, still only six years old, is taken to make amends for his narrow Kempton defeat.
