In depth

Verdict

A cracking renewal of this Grade 1. Chepstow winner Masaccio was trying to give 6lb to the promising Jingko Blue here at the start of the month and was only beaten a nose. Johnnywho justified a lofty reputation when easily landing the odds at Carlisle and Lookaway rattled up a hat-trick before finding only one to good in the Greatwood at Cheltenham. After making a winning start in a Grade 2 at Chepstow, CAPTAIN TEAGUE suffered a shock defeat at Cheltenham. The galloping nature of this track will play more to his strengths, however, and he can recoup losses and give his yard a fourth win in this race in a row. The unbeaten Willmount looks a danger upped in trip even though he probably beat little of note over 2m here on his hurdling debut. Farnoge, a stable companion of the selection, is another who is unbeaten under Rules.
